POSITION: AGENCY RECEPTION 2

RESPONSIBLE TO: Resources & Employment Manager

JOB OBJECTIVE: Responsible for day-to-day running of the agency reception desk, information and referral to clients and potential clients, training and scheduling of reception volunteers.

AGENCY RECEPTION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times, dress code is business casual attire. Provide welcoming and polite interactions both on the phone and during face-to-face interactions.
  • Staff the reception desk. Coverage begins at 10:00 a.m. and continues to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursdays. The desk opens to clients at 8:30 a.m. and closes at 6 p.m. Stays open for groups and testing clinics. Specific closing procedures must be followed, as outlined in the manual.
  • Oversee reception area, which may include limit setting with individuals in the lobby area, to ensure the professionalism of the environment.
  • Must work well with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Must be punctual, and have strong attention to detail.
  • Enforce standards associated with confidentiality. This position is called to help support the maintenance of confidentiality/privacy of all CAP clients.
  • Provide Information and Referral to clients, including but not limited to housing, prevention, case management, financial, food, medical, and other services via handouts and other resources.
    Oversee and train an active roster of volunteers who assist at the reception desk.
  • Maintain overall appearance of the reception area: straighten publications and materials, remove trash, and update bulletin boards, water plants, etc.
  • Monitor the distribution of bus tokens and client mail.
  • Prepare token distribution reports twice monthly (must be done after 5:30 pm. on the 1st and 15th of the month).
  • Check general agency voicemail and forward messages to appropriate person(s).
  • Monitor fax machine and distribution of incoming faxes to employee mailboxes.
  • Coverage when necessary for Reception 1 (Opening shift).
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Spanish-speaker preferred.

EXPERIENCE:
Experience in a similar professional capacity, preferably in a non-profit setting working with diverse populations or medical office setting; training in cultural competency strongly recommended.

SKILLS: Working knowledge of software programs including MS Word, MS Excel and Access; ability to prioritize tasks and function independently.

Full Time position, $12/ hour, with benefits.

Position

: Bilingual Marketing | Education | Prevention Associate

Reports to: Director of Marketing

Job Objective: To support to Colorado AIDS Project’s mission of preventing the spread of HIV through three key program areas, broad based social marketing and education, targeted social outreach, and testing. This position will be part of a 5-person team tasked with implementing prevention and education strategy.

Specific Areas of Responsibility:

Broad based social marketing and education

  • Supports broad based HIV education through proactive media relations, social marketing, and community events
  • Acts as bilingual spokesperson for Spanish speaking media
  • Supports advocacy efforts at all levels from community groups to state government and national collaborations

Targeted social outreach

  • Presents HIV Education program to schools, businesses, civic groups, and communities of faith
  • Maintains calendar of speaking engagements and constantly updated accurate HIV prevention and education information for a variety of audiences
  • Supports MSM Outreach in event planning, outreach and social marketing
  • Participates on Youth HIV board as a representative of the organization

HIV testing

  • Provides HIV testing as well as pre and post test risk counseling to diverse populations
  • Coordinates all aspects of CAP Testing Clinics
  • Collaborates with agencies providing support at CAP Testing Clinics
  • Maintains a referral network of HIV/AIDS support and prevention services
  • Maintains records for all program areas

General Duties

  • Manages program budgets
  • Participates in departmental and agency meetings and retreats
  • Works days, evenings and weekends
  • Additional duties as assigned

Education: Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or a suitable combination of education and work experience in the HIV/AIDS education field.

Skills: Excellent speaking and facilitation skills a must. Demonstrated leadership abilities and interpersonal communication skills. Time management and creative strategizing. Ability to work with diverse populations and within human services ethics/boundary parameters. Data entry, word processing and spread sheet proficiency is required. Must be able to work effectively and sensitively with homosexually active men of varying socio-cultural backgrounds and levels of homosexual identification. HIV testing knowledge a plus, but will train. Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
